The Best Overwater Bungalows with Private Plunge Pool in Jamaica in 2024.
A classic feature of overwater bungalows is the private pool, most usually an infinity pool, on the terrace overlooking the ocean.
Some may consider this an unnecessary feature – a pointless extravagance – seeing as you probably have some of the world’s most inviting waters just feet below you already.
The pool isn’t trying to compete with the ocean though. The first thing a private pool has, which the ocean doesn’t, is a raised view of the ocean. A lovely aesthetic that looks particularly good in photos.
The second is that no matter how private the section of the sea surrounding your bungalow may be it can never be fully secluded.
The private pool though is tucked away on the terrace, thereby hidden from the view of your fellow guests.
Here then are our choices for the best overwater bungalows & water villas with private pool in Jamaica in 2024.
Resorts with overwater bungalows in Jamaica? There are only two!
Jamaica's only two resorts with overwater bungalows are both from Sandals - Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay and Sandals South Coast in New Hope, Westmoreland.
Where can I find them?
Sandals Royal Caribbean is on its own private island, just five miles from Montego Bay Airport, which has direct flights from many major U.S. cities. You can, therefore, potentially be diving into the sea from your overwater bungalow in less than half an hour after landing in Jamaica.
The other, Sandals South Coast is about an hour and a half away from the airport and is more secluded and quieter. Both Sandals overwater bungalow resorts in Jamaica are all-inclusive and adults-only.
Are they luxury resorts?
Both of them are top-of-the-range 5 Star, all inclusive resorts, some of the best all inclusives in the Caribbean in fact. Their overwater bungalows are similarly impressive, with large outside decks with splash pools. And modern tech, and quality furniture & fittings, including those classic glass floor panels, inside.
Sounds terrific! But what are the prices like?Sadly, prices are not cheap. Budget at the very least $2,000 USD per night for a stay in a Sandals' overwater bungalow in Jamaica. Though this is all-inclusive it should also be mentioned.
