A classic feature of overwater bungalows is the private pool, most usually an infinity pool, on the terrace overlooking the ocean.
Some may consider this an unnecessary feature - a pointless extravagance - seeing as you probably have some of the world's most inviting waters just feet below you already.
The pool isn't trying to compete with the ocean though. The first thing a private pool has, which the ocean doesn't, is a raised view of the ocean. A lovely aesthetic that looks particularly good in photos.
The second is that no matter how private the section of the sea surrounding your bungalow may be it can never be fully secluded.
The private pool though is tucked away on the terrace, thereby hidden from the view of your fellow guests.
