The Fiji Marriott, Momi Bay is an exclusive 5 Star resort near Nadi, and the Momi WW2 Gun Site, with a truly idyllic lagoon and ocean side setting. It also has an array fantastic facilities, premium quality accommodation, including some top of the range overwater bungalows, and consistently cheerful, friendly service.
The Marriott has a mixture of rooms at the main hotel building, all of which come with either a balcony or a patio, plus a mixture of bures (traditional Fijian style straw and wood huts) and overwater bungalows with private access to the water just below your feet. They come in various sizes with the largest, at over 800 square feet, being their ‘Royal Lagoon’ overwater bungalows.
All the accommodation choices are 5 Star standard and have a modern, minimalist chic style. Facilities include cable TV, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, USB chargers, music systems, laptop safes, tea & coffee making facilities and 24 hour room service. They all have particularly nice bathrooms too with stand-alone bath tubs, rainfall showers and a range of luxury toiletries.
The hotel rooms may be some of the most plush on Fiji but a stay in one of their traditional Fijian, straw and wood bures is a whole different level of experience and certainly worth the extra. This also applies, even more so, to their very plush, airy overwater bungalows which have high vaulted ceilings, outdoor decks and private access to the pristine waters below.
Note: The overwater bungalows are for adults/over 18s only.
FACILITIES & THINGS TO DO:
They have a great selection of high standard facilities including three swimming pools, two tennis courts, a 24 hour fitness center/gym and a day spa with spacious treatment rooms, plunge pools, a beauty therapy center and a hairdresser.
Children will be well taken care of too at the Turtles Kids’ Club which has a host of activities on offer both educational and just for fun. It also has a playground and a children’s only swimming pool, and babysitting and child minding services are also available.
The resort is child friendly then, but not so much as to disturb the peace of the many honeymoon couples who flock to the Marriott each year. If you prefer an extra sedate, child free, experience though, book into one of their overwater bungalows which are adults only.
Dining and drinking choices include Lagoon House which has lovely views over the lagoon and offers mainly Italian cusine; pizzas, pasta, salads etc. and with a selection of fine Italian wines, but also some wonderful fresh seafood dishes and international standards such as burgers & chips etc.
The Fish Bar offers fine dining evening dinners and more casual lunches. It also has lovely views over the lagoon and a range of interesting local seafood and grilled meat dishes as well as an extensive wine collection. Private dining with individually crafted five-course menus including French champagne can also be organized via the concierge.
Fijian-Indian fusion cuisine is available at Goji Kitchen & Bar, including some lavish all-day buffets and nightly themed dinners while you can enjoy light bites and some premium cocktails at the resort’s main bar, the laid back, Lagoon Lounge which has live entertainment most nights. The Fiji Baking Company is a café/deli with freshly prepared snacks, both savory and sweet, as well as great coffee and selection of sandwiches.
All manner of activities can be organized at the Marriott, Momi Bay from water sports to cultural tours: Kayaking, surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing, zip-lining, golf, boat tours, picnics, hiking tours, visits to historical sites etc. etc.
