Why We Like It: The enormous, 5 Star luxury, Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson Resort, just south of Kuala Lumpur, is one of Malaysia’s most iconic resorts, and it has the largest amount of overwater bungalows of any resort in the world. There are an astonishing 522 overwater of them stretching out nearly a mile into the Strait of Malacca in the shape of a hibiscus flower. Each water villa is beautifully put together, with suitably luxurious interiors and outdoor decks with private plunge pools. The only negative we can see though is that with such a huge amount of overwater bungalows together they are relatively close together and so not as private as some people may like. The resort itself has excellent facilities, including a big choice of restaurants and snack bars, spa facilities, a kid’s club, and a huge range of fun water and land-based sports activities. On land too there are a further one hundred-plus guest villas.
