Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is an award-winning 5-star all inclusive with water villas on a stunning private island in The Maldives’ Noonu Atoll.

The resort has a great reputation for family vacations, winning the World Travel Awards’ category of Best Family Resort in the Indian Ocean for three years running from 2016 to 2019, while also being nominated multiple times for the world’s best family resort.

It is also a popular place for a romantic getaway though – this being the Maldives adults/couples dominate anyway, there are also dedicated adults-only zones and the resort is large enough to find plenty of space for rest, relaxation, and romance.

It offers various options – b&b, half board, full board, and all inclusive. For a multiple award-winning, 5-star resort in The Maldives Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is pleasantly very reasonably priced, with the all-inclusive being overall the best value package.

Water Villas & Other Accommodation:

It has a nice choice of accommodation on offer, villa style, around the beach or overwater. All of them fit a maximum of two adults and two children up to the age of 12.

They are all as plush and comfortable as you might expect from a 5 star private island paradise with sleek interiors and a nice sense of open space both inside and out, though some may deem the water villas too close to each other careful design means that even on their outside terrace they are still very private.

The pick of their Maldives over water villas is very much the ‘Infinity Water Villa with Separate Living Room’, all 1668 square feet/155 square meters of it. It, as the name suggests features a separate lounge area and an infinity pool on the terrace.

The others are smaller, though none of them could be accused of being too small – your most basic choice will still be over 900 square feet/85 square meters and though won’t have a private pool it will still have either a semi-open bathroom with a photo-worthy spa bath overlooking the sea, or a jacuzzi on the terrace.

All their water villas also come with those classic glass floor panels so you can stare down at the sea life below from the comfort of your living room. Though they are a little on the small side it has to be said.

Their Beach Villas are all larger than the water villas except for the aforementioned ‘Infinity Water Villa with Separate Living Room’, with a minimum size of 1378 square feet/128 square meters.

They are tucked neatly away just back from the beach so do have privacy, all will also have a private open-air courtyard with a pool and/or a jacuzzi.

They are all surrounded by jungle foliage which gives them a nice natural, hideaway feel, and the decor is generally designed to reflect that.

Other standard mod cons of both the beach and water villas include satellite TVs, air-con, ceiling fans, Bose sound systems, tea/coffee makers, well-stocked minibars, study desks, and Wi-Fi.

All of the accommodation choices come with a personal butler for the duration of your stay.

Food & Drink:

There are a full 15 restaurants, bars, and coffee shops to choose from at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, both buffet and a la carte, and standards are very high, especially when you consider it offers all-inclusive packages.

Food choices include pretty much everything you might imagine – Pan Asian, French, Seafood, Teppanyaki, Indian, Italian, etc., and they vary from casual eateries to formal fine dining.

Your personal butler can also arrange private dining for you, in your accommodation of course but also say a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach or a luxury picnic in the resort’s lush tropical gardens.

Of the various bars, the swanky Bubbles Champagne Lounge should impress and there is nightly live entertainment and DJ sets at The Water’s Edge Bar, the main nightlife hub.

Resort Facilities & Things to Do:

As mentioned previously Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is probably the best resort in the Maldives for families with children. Their Kids’ Club is highly rated with activities that can be both educational and fun. There are always babysitters on hand at the resort too.

Child-phobic adults should be just fine at this resort though. You’ll find more adults-only spaces here than most family-friendly resorts, including an adults-only infinity pool and adults-only restaurants and bars.

Water sports are not surprisingly very popular here. There are also lessons for novices and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has a very good reputation for the quality of its instructors.

Scuba diving at their PADI dive center, jet skiing, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, big game fishing, and more are all readily available.

The island is wonderfully lush and has plenty of interesting flora and fauna – you can join one of the resort’s complimentary guided nature tours as well as extra tours like visiting a fishing village on other islands to meet some locals and learn a little about local Maldivian customs, dolphin watching or deep sea fishing boat trips.

On dry land, there is a gym/fitness center, mini golf course, tennis courts, badminton courts, and Thalgo Spa facilities with a variety of massages and signature spa treatments to be sampled, many incorporating Ayurveda and Five Elements principles.
