Why We Like It:
Punta Caracol is a boutique, eco-friendly resort in Bocas del Toro, along Panama’s Caribbean Coast.
It has nine very picturesque bungalows over the water which have the aesthetics of old colonial jungle huts but with modern comforts.
The setting is sublime – a deeply remote spot accessible only by boat and surrounded by 100 acres of the lodge’s very own rainforest reserve, 98% of which is left completely as nature intended.
It is absolutely a place for relaxation and contemplation. The food is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Overwater Bungalows & Other Accommodation:
They have just nine bungalows in total, divided into three categories – Standard Suites, Luna Suites, and a Master Suite.
The latter is definitely the pick of the bunch with 1076 square feet/100 square meters of open plan space including a mezzanine bedroom with its own outside terrace and wonderful views.
Its two terraces cover a combined area of 646 square feet/60 square meters.
The three Luna and the five Standard suites are broadly similar to each other, with the Luna just having that bit of extra space internally – 646 square feet/60 square meters as opposed to 538/50 meters but both have similar-sized terraces -269 square feet/25 square meters.
Both also have mezzanine bedrooms but only their downstairs sections have a terrace.
The terraces are a good size and are supplied with hammocks and dining and lounging furniture.
The waters below are, even for the Bocas del Toro region, really crystal clear and contain a great array of sea life that the resort management and local government are careful to protect.

And you can also arrange private boat trips to some nearby stunning desert islands.
The Punta Caracol’s restaurant/bar serves excellent Caribbean and international food, from breakfast to lavish evening meals, and also a good choice of drinks. It is a relaxed friendly place with a large terrace and lovely views over the water.

Resort Reviews:
“One of the best hotels I ever stayed in my life. What a beautiful place, amazing staff, the owner/ manager Maria made everything possible and smooth for us, the chef Adelina is adorable and you would eat the best lobsters ever cooked by her. Ocean view is stunning, direct access from your room to a crystal blue water.
To summarize, if you want to shutdown a bit and enjoy nature this hotel is your place. I would like to thank the whole stuff for the amazing stay I had there and I’m so looking forward to see them again over a longer stay in this fabulous place.….”“This place is amazing! A tranquil tropical paradise. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are beautiful and the place as a whole are is very nice. The restaurant is a little pricey because there is nothing else around, and there aren’t a lot of dinner options but the dinners were good. All other food is pretty basic but it’s really the place that you’re paying for. If the food was a higher quality, I would give Punta Caracol a perfect 10. They offer free snorkeling and kayaking which is a nice bonus. Overall, this place is awesome if you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing paradise, and we’ll definitely go back…..”
