Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge is another classic, eco-friendly resort in Bocas del Toro, Panama.
It has just nine picturesque overwater bungalows, in the style of traditional jungle huts.
They are surrounded by a 100-acre rainforest reserve and are accessible only by boat, so they sure feel secluded, if that’s what you’re after, as most visitors are in these parts.
The jungle is absolutely pristine here, great for treks and wildlife spotting right outside your door, and the waters beneath the bungalows are calm, clean and teeming with fish.
It’s a remote, eco-lodge with limited accommodation. The food is good, though, as you might imagine, they don’t have extensive menus.
Modern creature comforts might be scaled back too, but what you are left with is a truly earthy back-to-nature escape.
For overwater bungalows in the Caribbean we think Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge is also very reasonably priced.
It has particularly good deals for last minute travel; you can get an overwater bungalows here for as low as 140 USD per night in some cases.

Guests can explore the resort’s private 100-acre rainforest reserve on foot to spot sloths, monkeys, and colorful birdlife, or make use of the resort’s kayaking and snorkeling equipment right from their bungalows’ deck.
Additional excursions include dolphin-watching boat tours, visits to indigenous communities, and trips to nearby Starfish Beach. The on-site open-air restaurant serves fresh Caribbean and international meals.
The food is surprisingly very good, and the restaurant has lovely views over the bay.

Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge is an authentic, unplugged eco-sanctuary where rustic charm meets pristine marine and rainforest environments.
Most people come to Bocas to to disconnect for a bit and immerse themselves in nature, and this whole resort is designed for that.
There are more luxury resorts around Bocas, and more rustic, but for us Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge gets the balance between them just right, and its last minute rates can be particularly good value.
