Thatch Caye is a Belize private island overwater bungalow resort with a refreshing sense of scale. With a maximum of around thirty guests at any one time, it offers a balance between castaway escape and sociable, all-inclusive, island retreat. Set 25 minutes by boat from Dangriga on the edge of the Belize Barrier Reef, it is also nicely accessible. The overwater bungalows embrace the island’s barefoot-chic philosophy. Interiors are comfortable and thoughtfully furnished, but the focus remains firmly on the setting outside. We particularly liked the Premium Overwater Bungalows, which have their own private walkways and noticeably more privacy than the standard units clustered near the shore.
